Cross country skiing is great if you live in a small country.

No, it's not normal, but should be an easy fix.
Just check both slot and peg for any excess polystone residue, which may be impeding the arm sliding in fully.
If you have residue(?), just gently scrape it smooth, and try the fit again.
Great statue, good luck.

thank you for the reply. would the residue be some of those blue parts on the inside of the body magnet? I ripped one piece off, turned out to be masking tape I think? I cleared up the tape but it seems the magnet might not be strong enough to hold the weight of the shield arm causing the slight gap? It does look a little better though maybe? (sorry, new to all this, appreciate the help 🙏

That's a big improvement. If you need the gap to close even further, maybe you can use a thin layer of earthquake putty in-between the gap.
Or you can use another thin round magnet in-between the key & socket (if there is space) to make the magnet stronger.

thanks. I tried the earthquake putty and a thin magnet but it just increases the gap or doesn't stick. The only way it seems to sit flush is if I push up on the arm to counter the weight, so it seems that may be the cause, plus the weak magnet. Maybe I can try the putty on the underside of the magnet insert on the arm to try to prop it up a bit? or maybe just anything thin like folded paper? I guess it's still decent as is and you can't really see it unless you look close, but yeah, shame it doesn't go all the way in like others.

Your pics show you are on the right track, as you've managed to close the gap. Now go back, and do it again.
The body slot pics still show many uneven areas still needing smoothing work, both on slot walls & floor. Remember, think smooth, to match the smoothness of the arm peg. Hard to tell from your pic, but also check the edges/sides of the arm peg for ANY irregularities, and smooth accordingly.
I use a thin/narrow exacto blade to gently peel/cut thin slivers of resin off the slot wall(s) until flush. Use your finger tip to test the smoothness of the work, always aiming for ALL the slot walls to be as smooth, uniform, and even as possible.
Remember, that smooth arm peg is looking for a smooth fitting body bed.
Good luck.
P.S. Don't worry about the magnet, as once you align the arm properly, the magnet connection will improve accordingly. And don't over do it with the smoothing, slow and steady, as you're real close.

thank you much. I've been using this chisel bit from a leatherman tool but I think a more precise instrument like the exacto knife would yield better results so I'll pick one of those up. I also added more pics of each corner/side if that helps, but I'll keep working at it once that comes in, thanks!
