For me, it's how fantastic some of them look. Also different poses can be positioned with their arms, legs and weapons etc.
Keeping them in the box will mean they stay mint and is cool but I usually don't have the self control to do that. Also I like to feel their shape as well as enjoy seeing the back of them and all different angles too. True, they are easier to dust when in the packages but I have found the compressed air spray cans work great for dusting the ones that have been liberated.
I often say "set free" instead of liberated.....not sure why.
...liberated may seem too highbrow.
