An update from his Sister:
Quote:
No news is good news. Just wanted to send a quick update. Not much to report, but no news is good news in this case. Other than his lungs, Charles' organs continue to be good and the ECMO machine continues to provide his body with clean and oxygenated blood. The hope is that over time (i.e., weeks) his lungs will be able to heal and do more of the on their own. This procedure takes take so we don't expect much in terms of daily updates. Thank you for all the wonderful donations, stories, photos here and on his FB page. It means the world to us all.

Get well soon.

Covid appears to hit some very hard. If you are unlucky to end up on a lung bypass machine, it usually means atleast 3 months in hospital, followed by months of recovery. I know someone who spent 4 months in hospital with Covid, and 3 of those weeks involved being in an induced coma. He survived, has been told it could take up to a year to fully recover. There have been reports that question if full recovery is possible? with many suffering long term symptoms.

It's very weird. Like you said, it hits some very hard. Even kills some but other people like me get it and are ok in 4 days. I had it when this whole thing started and I was fine. Never felt very sick. Had a low grade fever, some body aches and 4 days later I was good. I pray for Charles and will donate as soon as I can.
