Recommendation on what to do with huge lot of graphic novels.
Thinning the collection down to my personal essentials. I have a lot of paperback and hardcover graphic novels I need to get rid of. I am ready to donate the majority of these but I am unsure of the best place to donate them to. I know some of you have gone through something similar so I thought I'd ask here. If it can be helped I'd prefer to give them away somewhere they might be appreciated and not just tossed into obscurity. But if that's the reality of most of these sort of donations then so be it. So, recommendations?

I have always taken mine to used bookstores. Call around and see if any in your area sell graphic novels. I usually just get a store credit I use to grab other books, records or DVD's I might be interested in.

Or, depending on what they are, donate them to a hospital with a children's wing.

Thanks, fellas. After a few phone calls and some more research I think I am going to do a combination of all three suggestions. The most appealing idea is giving these to kids. A couple of hospitals I called are interested in these and some long boxes of comics I'm donating as well. However, I have a lot of mature content as well so that will most likely go to the military. The rest will go to a library or book store.

I donated a lot of mine to the public library as well. This way a lot of people / kids get to read them. But all of the ideas posted are excellent ones.

at work we had a book drive for the local Ronald McDonald house. They told us that they are always looking for books that would be age appropriate for children but also books that would be great for adults since the parents of the children are staying there as well.
