I wonder if Hugh would dive back into the pool again if Fox & Marvel cut some kind of Sony Spiderman deal. Little 20 minute cameos in whatever Marvel movies warranted a visit from Wolverine?

That sucks, no reason for him to leave IMO. Always a mistake when someone leaves their iconic role but I still don't believe he will only be Wolverine one last time.

I've enjoyed a lot more of Cruises movies than Jackmans. Most of his solo Wolverines have been mediocre. Scott Caan might be a good replacement.

Tom Cruise gets a lot of grief for his personal beliefs, but the guy makes good movies bottom line. And his most recent run is among his best.
Edge of Tomorrow
Oblivion
Jack Reacher
MI: Ghost Protocol
I always thought Mel Gibson in his prime would've made a great Wolverine. Whichever direction they go, I hope they finally transition to the iconic costume(s).

I read that Apocalypse is the last film in the Universe created by Singer. I actually found that shocking as I assumed that the young group of original X-Men being introduced was going to be the team going forward for a few films.
I suppose the mass exodus of XM:FC stars and Hugh's retirement makes the timing as good as anything.
I suspect that Deadpool is Fox's way of testing the costume waters and hopefully it indirectly leads to a more colorful direction going forward.
