I'm not opposed to plastic statues in principle, but as omigeo noted, plastic statues can warp/lean/sag over time and even become sticky. This has happened with several Koto statues, and my frustration with that company led me to get rid of all of mine.

I have some of the Diamond Select DCAU plastic statues, and they're worth it if you can get them for less than $30 each. I have seen some of them damaged due to heat, though.

I'll keep monitoring my Kotobukiya statues as all look great right now. Some of them have to be years old at this point.

Heat shouldn't be an issue, where I'm planning to display them long term would be cooler part of the house and plan to have them protected.

PVC picks up fine details better and when painted properly looks more realistic - See Hot Toys figures for proof

Polystone weighs more, but I dont consider weight a metric of quality.

As material cost, Polystone is more expensive than PVC mostly because its less automated and usually hand cast.

PVC requires expensive steel/copper molds , which polystone doesnt.

Polystone started to be used because it didnt require expensive steel molds. It had zero to do with 'quality' The companies using it simply couldnt afford PVC so they 'spun it' in their marketing that polystone was a superior material.

But its really not.

Pliable is one thing. Check out what can happen to PVC. Only the arms were made of PVC (the rest was resin/porcelain). Only the arms got damaged due to heat.
