I can’t tell you how amazing this whole thing is in such a crappy time in human history . I remember not long ago a big debate took place on CGC forums about people bashing Jim’s Commission prices and that it was a waste of money as commissions would never be worth more than it was to the original buyer. Well fast forward to this amazing thread and look at prices . I’m not an art flipper I’m a fan and last summer I got my dream piece from Jim a very rare Marvel character outside the Xmen. I paid what was for me a lot of money but the experience and joy I get from seeing it on my wall and talking to this legend out weighed all costs.

I hope people have fun and get their dream pieces like I did.

Subby, this is why I like reading your posts and seeing what you post because the always exemplify the essence of the true collector. I am sure you paid alot for that piece but for the joy and satisfaction that you get from having it hang in your home and looking at I am sure it was more than worth it.

And me to me, the joy and satisfaction we get from making these purchases makes it worth the price.

Thanks folks . It’s a special piece no doubt an hommage to his original splash done in FF2 Vol2.

I’m not a DC fan at all ( actually can’t stand it ) but I do appreciate Batman and his rogues . I’d love to see

Mr Freeze or Ventriloquist

Both I’m sure Jim would do justice to.

As for pricing Jim normally charged 5K US for torso only minimal to no backgrounds 9x12” . It’s not negotiable . So these are very very detailed pieces and they are all going to be covers . That skyrockets value because they will be published art. This is a once in lifetime chance to get a fav character and cover by arguably one of the greatest

The price of these is driven by the charity nature of them and that they will be made into variant covers. The commissions are still 2 expensive.

Compared to what? Have you seen what Alex Ross charges for a crappy pencil unfinished sketch 8 x 10” ? They sell fast I may add as well. At least fans get a choice here .

I find it ignorant people think they can tell an artist they are too expensive? Why do you feel you have that right good sir? Did you develop his skills and career over last 30 years . It’s ridiculous . If it’s too much you don’t buy it and move on .

His art btw is some of the most sought after at the moment . That’s goes for anything. A simple 4 x6” headshot has will set you back 1-1500 US. Glad I got mine and am over the moon happy with it ! It’s first thing people notice among all my other art . It’s Jim Lee!

Nuff Said
