9 years later I just finished re-reading this book. What a wonderful book. Brought tears to my eyes at the end.

Bathroom reading: Foley is Good: And the Real World is Faker Than Wrestling
Some fun behind the scenes reading but overall, it felt like a sequel that didn't need to be made.

Wow, are you in for a treat! The only book I’ve read more often than Salem’s Lot is Dracula. To me, this and Pet Semetary may be his most perfect and terrifying purely horror books.

In Cold Blood by Truman Capote.
This book is legendary, and for good reason. What a masterpiece in every way. It’s gripping, thrilling, suspenseful, shocking and brilliantly written in a style that just captivates the reader all the way through.
I can’t believe I was a college English Major and an active reader in my more than 40 years since college and I’d never read this book until now. Easily now one of my favorite books of all time.

Blonde, by Joyce Carol Oates.
Nominated for The Pulitzer Prize and for good reason. Nearly 740 pages of pure emotional devastation. While novelized, this is Oates very heavily researched story of the life of Marylin Monroe. This poor woman was victimized from childhood through to the end of her life. One can’t help being furious at her treatment, suffering and trauma throughout her life while reading this book. Oates owes a lot to Truman Capote for creating the novelization of true events with In Cold Blood (see my prior post), but she makes this story her own with this incredible book.
Highly, highly recommended.
