I think they're just trying to move away from the viking influence as much as they can. It won't work of course because that's what he is all about.

The new costume is ass. The cosmic/space look is cool for those who are known for it...Donna Troy, Starhawk, Eternity, Genis-Vell, etc... but completely unnecessary for Thor.

I don't read Avengers or Thor, but he is "Brood"? Like the X-Men related space aliens that implant eggs in the host body?
Why are they trying to get Thor away from Vikings and Norse mythology? That's what makes Thor....Thor...
Also to chime in on his outfit, I just keep wondering why he stole Storm's headband and is copying her look

Yup, jeremydmc answered, but exactly that Brood. Jason Aaron is not a writer I look for and this Avengers run is “okay” but credit to him he’s trying new things and trying to keep up the excitement and action while working in his usual “big ideas” behind everything...his big ideas are mostly unnecessary and just screw with established continuity, regular fare for him.
And as for Thor copying Storm, maybe he’s trying to return the favor? Lol.

Still not a fan of the new costume. But the comic explanation is pretty good. I bought the new issue thinking I was going to drop the series but it got my interest. LOL

I thought it was decent, too.
Should be a fun story but this really served as a plot point to give Thor his arm and eye back. And it works.
I couldn’t stand this costume but since it has an in-story reason for existing I accept it more now and don’t mind it. Plus, it’s gotta be temporary. It’s tied to his current status and that can’t last so as soon as that’s over, so is this costume.

At least the cosmic costume makes some sense now.

Agreed, it all makes sense to the story and the story is intriguing to say the least!

I’ve got this issue pulled and on hold. I’m intrigued to say the least after the positive reviews.
