Mortal Instruments City of Bones 4/10 (and that was being kind). Had some good potential but didn't know til afterwards that it was based on a teen movie series ala Twilight. And it showed. Laughed multiple times in the movie (and it wasn't a comedy). The sad part was that there did not seem to be any teens in the theater.

Torture Garden (1967) 7/10 - I'm still riding the 60's/70's British Horror Train. This Amicus production delivers on a few levels, but blows on a few others. Burgess Meredith as Satan & Jack Palance as a Poe-obsessed nut-job brings together these two creepy actors in a cool manner.5 stories dealing with haunted pianos, synthetic actors, demon cats, and E.A. Poe collectors. Peter Cushing's I this one as well, & he shines in his arc. The stories aren't as EC-Comic scary as others I've seen & reviewed here. Still trying to get my hands on a copy of Dr. Terror's House of Horrors, then, I should have all the Amicus anthologies.

The Lone Ranger 7/10
This film was a pleasant surprise. It was unfairly eviscerated by the critics IMHO.
The film did have a couple issues as it was 20-30 minutes too long and needed to decide if it was going to be dark and serious or a fun action comedy but overall it was a far better film than Iron Man 3 which was praised by critics.
Armie Hammer was passable however no leading man (and I am happy that I did not have to suffer through him as Batman) but Depp was incredible as Tonto; what a compelling and fascinating character.

Independence Day (Blu ray) 9/10

Out of all the dumb popcorn flicks ever made, this is my favorite by a huge margin. It may be team America on steroids but the music, the atmosphere the film creates, the fine collection of actors are all great. One reason this film has aged well in my opinion is the use of models over cgi where possible, cgi has killed many a movie but in ID4 they built the cities as models and burnt them down and it is so much better for it. The main reason I gave this such a high score is it has in my opinion the most important trademark of any great film... I can watch it over and over and enjoy it just as much each time.

Glad I wasn't the only one.
