His work became shoddy and self indulgent sometime after DKR. I loved his comic book work (Spider-Man, DD, Ronin, DKR) before then, and even since like with Sin City and 300. But DKII was just terrible, as was All-Star Batman & Robin, a total fan turn off.

I was pretty excited when it was announced.

Hand this in my hand a few times at my LCS but put it back on the shelf. The whole "event" around this book puts me off. There are something like 50 variant covers for the book alone and I'm sure they put Miller's name on it just to recapture the nostalgia of the first series.

The thought of seeing Miller's art these days puts me off completely, I might get the hardcover when it comes out but I don't expect this run to be anything more than average.

I just need him to finish All Star Batman and Robin for completion's sake. Seriously. Finish what you started.

Resurrecting...

So from what I can tell, the 9th issue, which was unexpected, doesn't have a Miller variant cover.
Anyone know why?
Ive managed to secure all 8 with Miller's covers, Id hate to have an incomplete set.

I have collected the series to date and it is unbelievably pedestrian. They also erased the primary aspect that made the whole "Dark Knight Returns" concept so compelling for love of setting up sequels. The series is weak though infinitely better than the abomination that was DKII.

Sin city (which I love) and 300 were the last pieces of work I care from Frank. All-Star B&R was atrocious (the only saving grace there was Jim Lee's art) and DKII goes without saying. What a shame. How the mighty have fallen.

The HC edition will be regular sized as far as i heard from forums etc. :/ I even double dipped and bought The Deluxe TDKR&TDKSA HC so i have a shelf in unison with TDKR&TDKSA Deluxe HC and DKIII Deluxe HC together side by side... But no... DC had to make a regular sized DKIII HC. I won't buy it, i can wait for a deluxe, everyone says DKIII is crapy anyway...

How many issues is this series anyway? I keep buying them because I'm $ invested in it, but it feels like a chore to read it every month.
