Actually, I totally get that. I thought the first one was pretty spooky. The location in a totally normal house that any audience member can relate to, the absence of a musical score, the very ordinary young couple, and the fact that the supernatural events came on so gradually, made the film pretty unsettling. Even more impressive that it was made over a weekend for a tiny budget.

The first one starts out feeling like a no budget piece of garbage. But before you know it, it grabs a hold of the viewer, and creeps them out. I watched the first one home alone at night. I turned it off about half way through, and resumed it in the morning when the sun was up. It still managed to freak me out. I'll never forget the closing (girl with knife) moment.

I need to watch the second one again. I don't remember too much about it.

The one that creeped me out the most was Event Horizon.

Not an actual horror film, but the most nerve-racking movie I've ever seen is probably Kajaki (AKA Kilo Two Bravo), a modest British production.

It was an agonizing ordeal, I tell you. Really good stuff, but not for the faint of heart.

Just been reading up on that. 9/10 and 10/10 scores - impressive. I'll have to check it out.

..it's free on YouTube
Kajaki. Subtitulado a español. La guerra en uno de sus dramas más traumáticos.

Do it! 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, for what it's worth.

Its going to seem super lame, but Poltergeist III. I saw it when I was around 8-9 and to this day mirrors in dimly lit rooms.....hell, sometimes well lit rooms....make me shudder like something walked over my grave.

It's the simple things that stick with a person IMO, not the slasher films.

I will NEVER watch any of the Paranormal Activity movies. No way.
