This is why there are bills being passed in Congress to make taping of police encounters illegal.

"Cops Brutally Gun Down Dog Unnecessarily"
That's quite a headline.

Yep, can't say I'm too happy about that one. As if citizens documenting incidents of abuse is the problem.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

There is no way I would try and restrain that type of dog that is for sure.
By looking at the video it does not go well for the cops as they probably should have called the experts (dog control) For all we know they may not have been available.
However to me the OWNER of the dog has a lot to answer for. Why was the dog where it was etc etc.
This type of dog are strong dogs and at the start of the video it looks like the cop is on the phone talking to someone to try and solve the problem.
It is a judgement call and the worse part is if that dog had have attacked the cop and caused medical injuries i am sure people would be saying they should have shot it earlier. This dog may have attacked people on other occasions, we dont know. Sometimes you cant win.
They (not sure if they have or not yet) are trying to ban these type of dogs in certain parts of australia. They are not doing it because they are quiet dogs.
All i am saying is that until i was in that situation i am not sure what i would have done, if i was that cop, as at the start it does look like they were trying to solve the problem, and even up to the stage that he had the lasso on the dogs neck and it was quiet and then he had a change of heart, could be he relised the dog was too strong for him, i dont know he the the only one that can answer that

I am a dog lover!
But I do NOT care for pits!
They are vicious dogs and have the means, ability, and capability to maul ANY moving object whenever they decide to snap.
Every story of a pit, bred to fight or not, always starts "he was a gentle loving dog" until the dog chomps down on the neighbor! I heard a story from a coworker where this fighting pit was chained to a volkswagon bug.. it started pulling the bug to attack police.. police had to empty two clips to finally kill it. Pit owners brag about stories like that because it is like having a loaded weapon at all times.
PITS were bred to fight. You can take a dog out the jungle, but you cant take the jungle out the dog.
