When impulse buys go wrong: another Valentino Guardians of the Galaxy cover

http://www.comicartfans.com/galleryp...?piece=1176134

Wasn't gonna get it but the carrot was waved too close.

I didn't especially dig this cover when it came out, but there's some stuff I can really appreciate about it. It's the only time Jim drew the Galactic Guardians as a team (Trimpe drew the story). He had some cool plans for this group, including a mini series that was set 500 years after the teams formation. Aleta would have led a group consisting of Warlock, Starhawk, and some other characters who eventually were introduced in image books in one form or another. This one kinda makes a nice bookend to my tpb cover (IMO).

Firelord was the first addition to Jim's version of the team, and someone I really dug- I had to compile over 3 full issues worth of the run (over 10% of all the art out there) before getting my first Firelord example, lol.

The price was nice but this is why I'm in the poorhouse, heh. 2015 is gonna be much leaner (still likely have another 12 or so GOTG pieces coming by about year's end)

The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

You're absolutely unstoppable. Another cover! Woohoo! That's a hell of a collection you've got, Bill! Big congrats!

EDIT: all your pages have so much character to them. I'm not even talking about the art. The bronze pages look so much cooler than the Bristol stuff they use these days.

Nice. I don't think the purchase was wrong. Maybe "awry".

You realize once you own all the GOG Art, you'll have to sell it to yourself to keep the thrill of the hunt alive.

Hahahaha!

I admire the thrill of cornering a market. The search will never end!

lol!

There were about 29 issues worth of material done. I have maybe 3 issues worth, but Spencer Beck just picked up somewhere around 7 issues worth! Plus between eBay, HA, and CAF- I'm guessing more than 4 issues worth have become available this year.

There's such a glut that its helped me focus on only the pages I really want as there is no way I could even dream of owning them all.

It may not seem like it (at the rate I'm picking stuff up) but I'm pretty choosey with the pieces I buy. I have scans of every interior page I want in a file on my computer (along with a word document listing all the future commissions I'm planning) so the want list is pretty organized.
