Morvern Callar (2002) - After her boyfriend's suicide on Christmas, a mourning supermarket worker and her best friend vacation in Spain, but find that grief is something that you can't run away from forever.

I fell in love with Samantha Morton in the title role when I saw this movie for the first time 20 years ago. 8.5/10

House (1977) - A schoolgirl and six of her classmates travel to her aunt's country home, which turns out to be haunted.

I rewatched this kooky Japanese horror film over the weekend. One of the zaniest movies I've ever seen. 7/10

Saltburn - Slow burn, with a major turn to crazy toward the end. I enjoyed watching for the most part, but don't believe I would ever re-watch. 6.5/10.

Kind Hearts and Coronets (1949)
-/10

I find this one difficult to score. Made before i was born.
It is black & white, a product of it's era, ahead of it's time. A comedy, not a lough out loud comedy.
I watched the Blu-ray, and was taken back by the stillness of the camera, zero movement, zero wobble.

Alec Guinness plays eight parts, excellently.

Mission Impossible, Dead reckoning

8.5/10

Really enjoyed this one, it's quite long, but never felt like it was out staying its welcome. Tom is finally starting to look like he's ageing a little also, maybe he is Human after all. But he's still believable in the role, struggling at times and questioning his abilities (Obviously relative to the world the franchise has created) I like that they have worked it in.

I maintain that this is the most consistently entertaining movie franchise around. MI2 was a blip, but still fine, the rest are great. I'm looking forward to part 2.

Phantom Thread (2017) - Set in 1950s London, Reynolds Woodcock is a renowned dressmaker whose fastidious life is disrupted by a young, strong-willed woman, Alma, who becomes his muse and lover.

Everything about it is top-level exquisite--the acting, costumes, art direction and especially the score. I just want to take a bath in this film. 10/10

People were raving about this in another forum last year so I considered making a point to see it in a theater, but then read that critics' reviews were more lukewarm like yours so I passed at the time. I will check it out eventually now that it's streaming because it still seems like my kind of movie.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)
6/10

The opening scene does not bode well for Quantumania as it involves a generic looking CGI creature.
Once the opening scene is over, it's back to reality, back on Earth, and the movie picks up. Yay!
It is not long before the expected happens, the gang are transported to the Quantum Realm, a surreal looking place that is obviously 100% CGI. This is where 95% of the story takes place.
About 40 minutes into Quantumania i feel a sleep.

The following day I returned to Quantumania, and picked up where I had left off.
Bill Murray makes an appearance. I like Bill Murray, he always adds that extra something.
Various battles, fights take place.. Other than that, there is not much to add, without entering into spoiler's, not that there is much to spoil.

I like CGI. CGI can be impressive. There are times, while watching something that is heavy on CGI, movies can feel soulless.

On a positive note, I would rate Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania higher than Eternals (2021)
