I highly recommend it. Not one of Ridley Scott's more popular films but I thought it was a really powerful tale and its beautifully shot. Plus its based on a true story which adds a bit of weight to it.

Yeah Tony I never purchased Shallow Grave on DVD either. Been waiting for a proper release for a long time now.

+1. Never heard of it myself but it sounds interesting.

Will definitely check out White Squall, especially being that my wife is an amateur sailor and hasn't seen it.

I was soo happy that SG was not only coming out on BR, but being released by Criterion!

Make sure to post your thoughts. Would love to hear what you and your wife think. My GF hasn't seen it either and I can't wait to show it to her. I'm really excited for this release. Scratch one more off my top ten most wanted BDs.

Yeah me too. I'm a big Danny Boyle fan and this is one of his best IMHO. Nice to see it finally get the treatment it deserves. I'm sure Criterion will make it worth the wait.

I'll definitely let you know what we think. That top ten most wanted list is getting scratched down to nothing lately! You'll need to come up with a new list.

Yeah the list is certainly shrinking. 2012 is going to take a big chunk out of my most wanted catalog titles. That said there are still a handful of films I REALLY want to see make their way to BD.

Will let you guys know what I think of the Triad movies (when I find time to watch them )

And I'll check out White Squall too

I have a couple of (guilty pleasures) that I'm still waiting to see on BD:

Action Jackson
The Hidden
Lake Placid

They're not what you would call 'quality' movies, but they're all good fun

I enjoyed The Hidden and would add it to my library if it were to come out. Action Jackson was fun in an 80's cheese sort of way but it was a bit to over the top for me to ever consider owning. I never bothered with Lake Placid.

I was just thinking that my want list is actually pretty small now. Off the top of my head this is all I can come up with.
  • The 13th Warrior
  • The Abyss
  • Suspiria
  • Blade II
  • Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome
  • True Lies
  • Hamburger Hill
  • Lawrence of Arabia
  • Schindler's List
  • Glengarry Glen Ross
  • Phantasm
  • Phantasm II
  • Friday the 13th Part IV: The Final Chapter
  • Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives

I'm sure there are more titles I would add to my collection should they come out but as far as what I want most that hasn't been announced yet those are tops for me.

The 13th Warrior
Schindler's List
Brotherhood of the Wolf
The Black Hole
The Abyss
The Secret of Nimh
Would've added The Fox & The Hound and The Three Amigos, but those came out last year.

S'all I can think of right now.

Ah yes, The Black Hole. Definitely want that. Good one Ryan.

I have the German Import of Brotherhood of the Wolf on HD DVD or I'd be right there with you on that one.

The Secret of Nimh is already on BD. I know cuz I own it.

The studios really need to get their sh!t together and organize world wide releases of these movies. I know we have Brotherhood of the Wolf on BD here and Mad Max BTD, Lawrence of Arabia and possibly more. And I know we've said it a million times, but let's just ditch region coding once and for all.
