Maybe our expectations built too much pressure around this piece.
If you don't have a Doom in your collection and you've been patiently waiting for one, you can't go wrong with this one given the price point and availability for any other 1/4 Doom on the market.

I really wanted to like this DOOM but I just don't. I'll keep waiting for the definitive DOOM, maybe XM will do it.

In case it saves anybody looking: this was on “In Stock” a couple of days ago, but now it’s on “Pre-Order.” The suspicious part of me thinks it was to exclude it from the 10% sale on all in stock items, but other new statues (e.g. Carnage) still show as “In Stock,” so maybe they’re actually between batches.

That's quite possible. A small batch of Dr. Doom may have shipped and now its in Pre-Order again.
Would be nice tho, if someone that got one of the early batches post on here some pics. Would be nice to have proof.
