Good luck! What time did you get on the waitlist? I can only comment on when I did, which was roughly when the e-mail went out, which was around 4 PM EST.

I wouldn't bail yet. I am still on my flex, I am sure some others are too. Guaranteed with the Holidays some will cancel.
ETA: I was going to cancel, but my wife is a big fan and wants it. Having to bend over backwards to keep it.

Got released at 3am Sydney time, and I jumped on about 6 hours after (9am AEDT).

Sounds like about 2 hours after I did. I think that means you should still have a good chance. When I check my waitlist order, it still says that my conversion chances are "not great" with the bar all the way in the red.

Someone on Facebook stripped the orange paint off their base and repainted it a translucent blue, giving it an excellent water affect. It looked great.

The tiny specs on statues, I can't believe people ask for replacements. My green Phoenix has a black splotch on her phoenix emblem. I'm not happy about it. But if I return that it will just be something else on the next one.
