The strain
Is anyone here watching the new G del toro show?
It's eight episodes in and I think it's been pretty good.

I wouldn't call it good, I'd say great! The show just gains more momentum with each episode! I haven't read the books or the comic adaptations, so I have no idea where it's all headed (although I would guess there will be very few happy endings).

I never read the books or comics either and am really enjoying it. Can't wait to see who the vampires are that appeared at the end of the episode before last.

Were they vampires? They didn't look quite the same. It was definitely a WTF moment regardless.
My son and my wife both really like it so we all watch it together. My daughter gave up after a couple of episodes.

That's what they looked like to me, they were covered up to protect themselves from the sun I assumed.

Loving the show
I was wondering if they weren't vampires as well, or a different "strain" of them

They're vampires but a diffrent take on them. They look more like the classic vampire nosferatu then the Dracula were all accustomed to seeing or dare I even say twilight. The show to me is very good and I think the best on right now. Debatable though once arrow, supernatural and a few other new shows start.

checked this out the other night.
it was ok. reminded me of Blade 2. the Vampires that is.
seemed pretty boring to me. although it did like Blade 2.
just seemed this show was a rip off of B2 to me. so i lost interest.

I don't think it reminds me of blade at all. This was an anicent plague from nazi germany. Blade 2 didn't have that nor did it have scientists or the master aspect.

im talking about the vampires themselves. the look and how the mouth opens up and the long tentacle thing coning out of the mouth. ummm yeah. B2.
thats what remanded me of B2.
its an ok show. but noting so great it would want me to watch it again. i thought it was going to be something original. but thats not the case. just an idea borrowed from another film is all.
just wasn't what i was expecting it to be. kind of a let down honestly.
