Couldn't agree more with this post. There's some new 1/6 players like Qmx coming up, but nobody has the history of success with headsculpts like Hot Toys.

But all my statues are comic related, except for the Batman '66 line.

I have started collecting the QMX Star Trek Line. Their Kirk, although not perfect, is the closest likeness I have ever seen. Spock is darn near flawless and McCoy looks good too(mine is on the way).

THe HT TFA Han is the best HS by any company though IMO. Maybe at any size? And HArrison Ford is one of the hardest actors to get right

I went there once I think. It was bloody awful. Just so much hate, nonsense goin on & mods using their positions in ways that they shouldn't

Gives collectors a bad name

Cool! So, they got the likeness game down.
How 'bout the other parts of their figures?
The materials they use, do they last long?
I mean, you won't have brittle plastics or faded paints and fabrics, like after a couple of years given you've taken good care of the toy?

I looked it up, isn't that the official Sideshow forum?
Oh well, I won't be joining it since I'm already here.

depends on a number of things.

Take the '89 Batman for instance. The suit is all rubber. If you leave him in a pose with the elbow bent for a long time, it will damage the suit. Best to leave him in a museum pose. But my first ever HTs - the Alien Kane & Dallas both wear rubber suits(although you wouldn't think it looking at them) and they have lasted perfectly all this time

Faded paints, as with everything, keep out of sunlight

Faux Leather can be a problem (they used real leather on the DX10 T800 but that wasn't an option with the DX13 BD T800 due to all the bullet holes and tears), some people have had issues with the Crow, but then again like everything, it may be a case of storage & temperature conditions

I don't think it is the official SS forums, maybe it was at one time? Don't see a link on the website though

I agree with Joy Division that materials can be a concern. The ED-209 was a disaster with the cracking rubber. Vinyl and rubber can dry and crack. I recentenlty applied Mothers VLR using a cotton swab on my Hot Toys figures and Sideshow statues to restore and preserve the vinyl and rubber parts.

I don't tend to repose figures I have on display, so I'm not sure if there are any plastic aging issues. Of course I keep everything out of direct sunlight.

Cloth materials have never been a problem though.

the bodies are the best you can get, which is why people buy spare ones for kitbashing (although people are starting to shift towards Phicen's seamless bodies, especially with the females)

The ED-209 was very early on in HT's career so some leeway can be given there, but they went the same way with the reissue?!

This issue has soured me on Hot Toys. If I have to keep the figures in static Museum poses, what's the point of having an "action" figure. I passed on the Spiderman 2 figure just because of that. And now I just repositioned my Batman Returns figure because I'm paranoid!
