Amendment 1, allows a law that was on the books since 1926 that prevents Asians from legally owning land to stay on the books, even though the law hasn't been envoked in close to 100 years.
Amendment 2, allows for a ban on gay marriage to be written into the Florida constitution and prevents and probably reverses all civil unions, including those of hetros.
So basically, I live in a state surrounded by !%&!%&!%&!%&ing bigots!
The one good thing is that now since the law in CA has been flipped it will be legally challendged in the courts, and very likely will end up in the Supreme Court. If it's deemed unconstitutional there, it will likely have the same ramifications all over the country, or at least set the president which may open the doors for similar lawsuits to be filed in all the other states.
Just like women and the civil rights movement of the 60's it's just a matter of time before we win this argument too.

GA is full of the same bigots... I really do hope that Obama will get some judges in that will favor us more, and maybe this can be taken to the supreme court.

I know this will sound rude and cruel, but you know me .... a few of the judges on the court have one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel, there ain't no way in hell they will make it 4 more years, much less possibly 8 ... and if the Dems win the next set of elections in 2016 with Hillary leading the charge ... it will be 16 years ... like I said, it's only matter of time.

it's important to remember that the ERA actually didn't pass when it was first tried. time is on our side, which is why the resistance on the other side is so strong. nothing brings out a fight like inevitability.
