Is daylight bad for statues or figures?

Just wanted to ask you guys if daylight (not under direct sunlight) is bad for statues or figures? Or does anyone of you who have similar setups have had noticeable faded paint apps over time?

Pics are from Aaron Dirks from fb:

Yes and especially uneven light where one side of the statue is getting hit by light and the other side is not. Better that they have even light which is best achieved in dark rooms.

This is a topic that frequently pops up. There should probably be a FAQ somewhere. I've repeated myself many times on this subject.

Yes, sunlight damages all forms of artwork, every second it is exposed. The damage comes from UV light (and heat). For the same reason, avoid using fluorescent lighting options. LEDs are the best as they emit virtually no UV light.

UV damage is an ongoing process that may be difficult to detect until significant time passes. If you had two identical statues, and kept one in storage, then compared them after a while, the difference would be more noticeable.

Since we need light to view and appreciate our collectibles, it's up to you to determine how valuable they are to you and how much exposure they receive. I'd suggest trying to display them in a room that can be darkened easily when no one is around. After all, there's no point exposing them to damage when no one's viewing them.
