It is accurate but what’s the chance of you holding on to a TV (as your primary one) for 10-20 years? New technology would definitely have you trading up long before your picture shows any sign of degredation.

Hey, what it all boils down to is what you like. Go to stores with an open mind and if you like the picture and features on any given set, regardless of the type, get it!

Also, you may want to check the picture the TV gets from some other source than the video loop they use in many stores. DVDs tend to make the picture look 100 times better than it would with normal analog, digital, or HD reception

I agree, I have a Pioneer HD Plasma and can highly recommend them.

I install videoconferencing and work with a lot of different kinds of TVs. I have found that the LG 42" and 50" plasmas are great for the price. But if you have the money I would go for the Pioneer. LCDs are not as good as plasmas in my opinion.

Plasma, without a doubt. You can get a kick ass 50" Samsung plasma for a little more than your bonus shipped. Any LCD of the size you want with good specs is going to cost more than the tv I mentioned and it won't be as good or big. I don't understand how they justify charging what they charge for these LCD tvs. I'm not saying they're trash but they're just not as good as a plasma so why pay more than a plasma to get a smaller inferior tv.

I think LCD's are fine up to say 42" after that you should be considering Plasma. If it lasts 15 years you have no worries

A 42" LCD is going to cost you the same or more than a 50" Plasma.

The only LCD's that are worth buying are the little ones 15" - 20"+, for the kitchen - Other than that Plasma is a no brainer.
