My notifications have always been spotty and often I'll have to unsub and resub to the thread, but I also took note of this in the email notifications:

Part of the issue may also be your mail app. My iPhone mail app was not getting email pushed to it in a timely manner. I could only consistently set it to “fetch” email, but as we know every 15 minutes can be way too long.
I downloaded the gmail app and I get email pushed instantly.
I don’t really use social media and this event is the first time I tried to sub to a bunch of YouTube and Facebook notifications. Holy cow, these apps are craptastic in delays. I cannot believe our society thrives on this.

I removed myself and readded and that gave me one notification and then done again. Frustrating
