I got the DD3 in kit form, love mines but just wish they went with the original helmet sculpt, though I do think they nailed Franks head sketch for Bowens DD1 perfectly.

Frazetta stuff is not a huge market as some seem to think, their market is really for old school guys who grew up with Frazetta, if anything it’s shrinking, the newer generation is into other fantasy stuff which is probably more or less influenced by Frazetta stuff.

Unless you think Marco Plouffe is a bigger name than Frank Frazetta, none of that relates to the point.

Does the kit come with the flat helmet (which I prefer) as seen or is it an alternate head or did they just change it to what we see in the painted version and that is all we can get? I always thought this version looks bow legged and the ax is bending way to much or does it not look this way in person?

I don't think Frazetta statues will ever sell in decent quantity. There just isn't a market for it. Sure there is a hardcore group that loves it , but mass market? I don't see it.

It comes with the Frazetta sketch head only, like you I prefer this one, looks closer to the revised, but I can still appreciate the sketch helmet accuracy.

I see. I like the straighter axe handle look too. I get that they may want to curve it a little to match the painting better but I think did too much. Both the bow legged look and the over curve of the ax partially caused me to pass on this one but the main reason is the same as previously mentioned. I already have one based on this painting that I like fine or even better. If this was the only one I definitely would have gotten this. Shedman also gave me a cool option extra shield for this one too

I also prefer the Chris Gabbrish DD2 that I have to the new Shifflett bros one so I?m not sure if I will get that one or not. Here is an interesting take on helmet design that I kind of like but nobody has used that I know of.

Dig the shield Darrin, I had Thiago Provin cast me some shields that he sculpted for my DD Conan conversion from Ken Kelly Keeper kit, posed it with all my DD kits and statues in 1/5 or 1/6 scale, can?t find the pics for the others, goes really well with Chris G?s DD and Nagles DD.
