Broken Off Sword on Legend of Zelda Green Link Help!

Hi everyone. I have a little problem and that is that my Green Ocarina of Time link has a broken sword. The paint also flaked off on parts of the sword.

So I need a little help with getting the sword on and then touching it up to look good. I have used brush super glue on other statues that were easy fixes. So I can glue the sword on but it will have a very noticeable line, even though it is a clean break.

What do I do once I glue it back on?

Also for re painting? Should I paint it before I glue it back on? How do I go about painting it? I have never painted on a statue so I have no idea what are good types of paint.

I hope the picture helps show the problem.

Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

-Anthony

I took an IQ test and the results were negative.

I would suggest gluing it on with super glue first and then sand any excess glue if any, remove loose paint and then repaint the needed area. That's what I'd do personally anyway.

I'd get a small drill bit drill a hole in both pieces and inset a metal pin. Then glue them together. After the glue dries, you can sand and fill the seam. Sand the putty then prime and paint.
