Wow, I remember watching that movie. Up in Cleveland, between Big Chuck and Little John on Friday nights and Superhost on Saturday afternoons, I got to watch a lot of sci fi and horror movies when I was a kid. Man, those were great, cheesy movies.

Having recently read comic strip adaptations of some James Bond novels, I'm itching to re-read those same novels... though I must say, the strips brought to light just how ridiculous some of them are.

There's a great series of covers for the UK editions. I've read the novels recently too, and was surpised at how relatively faithful some of the movies are, while others just take the title.
I really enjoyed some of the books, others were OK, and The Spy Who Loved Me was a complete turnip.
Anyway, now reading Dune for the first time.

The Terror - Dan Simmons.
A fantastic read; 90% historical nautical fact mixed with 10% horror fiction.
An actual accounting of the HMS Erebus and HMS Terror in their trek in the Arctic to force the Northwest Passage in 1845 - 1848. The crew's plagued by mutiny, starvation and scurvy.. and the 10% fiction is the monster Simmons has also thrown into the mix (basically the boats get stuck in the ice and all Hell breaks loose).
The characters in the book are almost all actual crew members from Captain Sir John Franklin's lost expedition (the "lost" aspect is where Simmons had some fun by inserting the monster). A fun read.

Just finished up Patton Oswalt's "Zombie Spaceship Wasteland." Not bad, but I thought it would be better.

There were some cool retro covers on the more recent Penguin releases, but the style you posted looks much better.
