Yeah, who would expect a Captain America movie to come out in the U.S. first.

Bullet to the Head 7/10
Stallone is really getting too old to do the a$$kicker role, but still a pretty good movie

Dead Of Night (1945) - 3/10
Made in England by Ealing Studios during a time when, & I didn't know this, Horror Movies were semi-banned in the country during the War & directed by several well-respected English directors at the time, this film is supposedly the archetype for the British' anthology or chapter horror-movie craze later perfected by Amicus. 6 travelers gather in an English Country Estate w/ one of them immediately realizing that he, thru a dream he sort of recalls, knows everyone there even though they've never met. Well, each tells a dreamlike tale of the supernatural that has happened to them with a spooky reveal at movie's end. My problem w/ this flik is that it comes off as just too damn old. The flushed B&W, the almost kiddie-like tales, the textbook skeptic. It just blows. As a huge fan of the genre, I was very disappointed in this grandfather film. One highlight ... I believe this movie has the very first evil ventriloquist doll story ever put on film & that one kinda works. Not scary or even compelling.

Captain America: Winter Soldier I'll score it later once I've slept on it but I have no hesitation saying it's the most polished looking Marvel movie and probably the best written one too. It's also my favourite from them. Absolutely superb.

8MM - 8.5/10
This is a dark unsettling crime thriller that really got under my skin the first time I saw it. Not just because of the disturbing underworld it exposes but because everything about it seems plausible. The vulnerability of young people and what happens when that collides with pure evil is both frightening and heartbreaking. Cage is excellent as the ambitious private investigator as is the entire supporting cast. Despite the seedy subject matter this is a detective film at it's core and one of the more underrated films in it's genre. Its a shame it isn't available on Blu-ray yet but I was all too happy to re-visit it HD On Demand.
