Didn't the Mets get smacked by the Pirates the other day?

Good luck in the playoffs with Soler, El Duque and Lima finishing off that Cy Young staff you guys got. Except for Moose and Wang our staff is in shambles but at least we have hope. I'll take my chances with Johnson, Shacon and Wright before Lima, Duque and Soler anyday. The Mets & Yankees need to pick up another pitcher to have a real chance at a title run this year.

Agreed..and lets not forget they are missing a 1/3 of their offense with Cano, Sheffield and Matsui all on the DL.

And with that said, they are only 4 games back in the AL East. With all the games the Sox won recently and to only have a 4 game lead dont think that wont come back to bite them in the ass in Oct.

All this talk about how great the Mets are and the Yanks and Mets haven't been separated by much games at any point in this season and again thats with the Yankees being hurt and having bad pitching in the toughest division in baseball and the stronger league. Sox better not waste this chance to put us away. 4 games is nothing. They better have at least a 8 game lead going into that last month or they're in trouble. All we need is one of our other starters to pitch half way decent and we can beat anybody and if our lineup is back in time for the playoffs we can make noise. Mets lineup is good but they won't be able to slug out a world title, not with those starters.

if bawstun doesn't gain more ground now that the yanks are in the pits, they are setting themselves up for dissappointment. with 9 games to go against the Sawx, 5 in august, 4 in september. there is plenty of time to catch-up.

I think Matsui is on track to be back in mid Aug, which means he should be back to form by the end of the month early Sept at the latest. Cano will be back way before that and haven't heard a timetable on Sheff.

And Im sure somewhere between now and the end of the trade deadline Cashman will be looking to pull the trigger on some deal to bring in some pitching help. Although there has been talk about them bringing up some young arms which is fine with me.
