AmiAmi.com??????????

I was wondering if anyone could tell me a little bit about this website? I have seen people on thi forum say they recommend purchasing from them for certain items. Are they pretty good to deal with overall? Oh, and how does the conversion work with using a U.S. credit card?

They're great. SAL shipping is really cheap and reliable. Everything is well packaged in larger boxes with, I think, scrunched paper for cushioning. Of all the Japanese figure stores, they tend to have the cheapest prices.

You can cancel items for free but do it too many times and they will ban your account.

With a credit card, you'll be charged whatever the going conversion rate is plus a ~3% conversion fee (depending on your bank).

e.g. Something costs 100000 JPY, you pay $82.50 + $2.50 fee.

Here's my take:

Overall, they're one of the more popular Japanese online shops for collectibles. They deal in Japanese Yen currency only so depending on your country's exchange rate, prices may differ (the Yen is currently weak to the US dollar so that's a point in your favor).

Shipping can be slow (a few weeks) to fast (a few days), depending on the shipping option you use. Of course, the faster shipping is pricier but also carries more insurance.

They're packing is very good but some say they might go a bit overboard (which adds to the box weight and shipping costs).

Their customer service is responsive but not very helpful if something goes wrong with your order, in my experience. Also, they accept NO cancellations.

They might let you cancel once, but later, they threaten to cancel your account if you do it again. Plus, they seem to have a horrible "too bad, fix it yourself" policy for polystone statues.

Having said that, & being a bit more familiar with them, they are one of my main 'go to' online stores for buying toys. Competitive pricing, & nice bargain bin sales sometimes.

I prefer japan-best.com for the exact reason Larry stated.

AmiAmi is good, the one thing I found strange is the "cancel your account" for cancelling or missing a payment after arrival...
No way to setup auto-payment either.

But I've ordered a bunch of things from them, all orders worked out well.
