Putting together a kit
hello everyone....
I've never put a kit together before, but I have read through Danno's sticky regarding the subject.
My question for the experts is...on a basis of easy, moderate, difficult...where does kit assembling fall?
I have some artistic skill, but at the same time I don't want to mess up the gorgeous casting I have. If it's on the more difficult side for a first timer than I'll probably steer clear.
Painting is not something I'm going to get into...
Any feedback is appreciated.
Thanks!

I'm no expert but I would say the difficulty lies in the kit itself. For example, if you have one that is keyed up with all the joints in natural folds on the character etc. it will be very easy to assemble. But if it is one with definite seams and gaps that need filling or even bubbles then it would fall into moderate or difficult. As a generalization though I would sum assembly up as moderate. Takes a bit of work but as long as you don't have to actually re-sculpt any of the detail it can be done by pretty much anyone. Guess it all depends on what you are comfortable with.

Thanks man...
Are the pins absolutely necessary when joining all the parts?

I think they are a necessary precaution. I mean think of it this way, would you rather spend an extra 5-10 minutes prep work on the piece and have it very sturdy or have a limb get bumped, break off, and have a section that would not only need repair, but also some repainting?

There is no hard kits, only time-consuming kits.

You have to plan ahead depending on the kit. Sometimes it easier to paint the kit in pieces rather than assembling it 1st then painting it.
