Cross country skiing is great if you live in a small country.

Talk about gratuitous leg spreading. It could've been a tad more subtle. In this case, subtle = sexy.

I agree with you, need to close the legs a little, kinda looks like she's sitting on the toilet

I don't think "subtle" is what this character's appeal has ever been about

The art looks fine. The render of the statue looks bad.

I like the regular version, no giant winged situation behind her.

If this is how you think women sit on a toilet....let me assure you that it is not. I don't know about guys because I don't make it a point to go into the bathroom with my husband - I draw the line at that.
That being said, I don't love this art direction from Cho. It's not his best sexy work. He is master of drawing sexy, voluptuous women that are flirty/strong/sexy all at the same time. This piece is missing the enticing sex appeal that he usually has. I think it's because she's sitting so upright. Since her legs are so wide, having her leaning over, or some sort of upper movement would REALLY help this piece. Here are some basic model shots of what I see in my mind...

The way she is holding her sword fails to fit.
Imagine Lady Death walking towards her throne to have a sit down. You'd have thought she'd have a place to place her sword, next to the throne for example. Her left hand could then be placed on the dragon (to her left) head, as if she were stroking it.

I was sorta joking, but I think your right, it's just her legs are spread so wide and her upper body is too upright, I agree leaning forwards or to the side would make it look a lot better, also in your examples the one girls legs are not as far apart and her legs are raised as she is on her tiptoes, which looks better, and the other one on the bench looks better as well, it could be a cool statue with a slightly reworked pose

I think the face is better on the render, more menacing. I dont mind the pose, and the dragons from Game of Thrones are a fun addition.
My biggest worry is that it's PCS that are making it
