I don't love Hereditary, but I really appreciate what Aster is doing. (Thanks to all for the heads-up on the Midsommar disc. Director's Cuts sounds great.) Unfortunately, while he likes horror, he intends to create more movies in other genres. He never intended to start off with two horror movies. A "big domestic melodrama" and/or "an absurdist dark comedy" in the works.

My two most anticipated films are (the covid-delayed) "The Green Knight" and Eggers' "The Northman". A24 is proving to be a great studio to follow!

Romancing the Stone - 7.5/10

I hadn't seen this movie in decades. I forgot how much fun it was!

Robocop (1987) - 8/10

Love this movie! Soooo much better than the more recent remake.

Penance Lane

I won't rate it I will just describe it. It is 3 former pro wrestlers, John Schnieder (Bo Duke) and a minor porn star in a movie about a town that turns a blind eye to a house of horrors and organ harvesting. It is exactly what you are thinking it would be. Now if you like that kind of movie, you will like it. If not, then probably not.

Breathless 5/10

Not the Artsy Fartsy French one and not the remake with Richard Gere. This is a totally different movie with a totally different plot starring Val Kilmer, Gina Gershon, and Ray Liotta. A murder and missing robbery money movie.

The New Mutants. 3/10.

Really disappointed in this. I went in really wanting to give this a chance. Just not a lot happened. Magik was the only interesting character IMO and besides about 5 good minutes of action with her, I was pretty bored with the rest of the movie.

Suspiria (2018) - A darkness swirls at the center of a world-renowned dance company, one that will engulf the artistic director, an ambitious young dancer, and a grieving psychotherapist.

Director Luca Guadagnino may have reached for too much in differentiating his reimagining from the original film, but there is so much here that I love from the Volk dance performance, to the Thom Yorke score to the bonkers finale. 9/10

Paris vu par... / Six in Paris (1965) - Six vignettes set in different sections of Paris, by six directors.

Pleasant for the most part although some segments are sillier than others. Ultimately, it's a lovely tour of The City of Light. 7/10
