Some harsh remarks for this figure. In the main I really don,t understand why. So this isn't a statue from the original trilogy, but it's long past common knowledge that Star Wars has gone beyond the orginal trilogy films, with the explicit support of George Lucas, you know, the creator of Star Wars....the other point that resources have been wasted, or that there are other things that could be made before this, in the main, I get the impression people are talking about GG basically stomping on old ground, yeah, we need another Leia, or perhaps a Luke....personally I'm happy they are branching out into more obscure areas of the Star Wars Universe.
Just wanted to add some points to justify my negativity towards the whole "Only the OT counts" ideology. Star Wars (the original films) were made back in the 70's, social ideals on what constituted a hero are vastly different to modern day. I get the impression that (aside from the finacial aspect) George Lucas has supported the expanded universe as a vehicle to keeping Star Wars relevant as we move into new social ideals. An example of this, compared to the original films, and even the original script which contained the prequals, the rise in solid and interesting female characters has sky rocketed with the EU. I would hazard a guess, but back in the day, GL probably never even considered that Storm Troopers could be female....now look, a female Storm Trooper, and with well thought out armour that doesn't over-emphasise her feminity.....no boob cups, just functional ballistic protection.
I think holding onto the OT just limits the amazing wealth of creativity locked into the SW universe, and I don't think I will ever support such a stagnant directive, especially not in this medium (Statue).
