Cool

Director Neill Blomkamp
With actor&producer Sharlto Copley.

Love these three somewhat connected Sci-Fi/Action movies:

District 9 (2009 112min) 9+/10

ELYSIUM (Matt Damon 2013 109min) 9/10

Chappie (2015 120min) 9/10

The Fog (1980)
7.0/10

I returned to The Fog last night, as i hadn't watched it for 20+ years.
Dated in places, over all, The Fog holds up well.
While i never found The Fog to be all that scary, i have always liked it's vibe. The night scenes work very well.
The calm reassuring voice of DJ Stevie Wayne, played by Adrienne Barbeau, adds something,
and adds contrast to the hell that's breaking out. Which i assume was the idea.
Jamie Lee Curtis was not in the movie nearly enough has i thought.

Have you seen the movie, The Mist (2007)
Based on book Stephen King
Also Eerie vibe (shopping mall and people not trusting each other).

I have watched The Mist, where they are all trapped inside a supermarket. It's ok. I prefer The Fog

Bone Tomahawk (2015)
A really well-written and acted western/horror. There's one kill in the movie that I won't soon forget.

I watched that last year for the first time...cool flick...and nobody seems to be split on how gruesome that kill is

Nosferatu (2024)
6/10

Style over substance..

10/10 Stunning looking film sets and locations..
10/10 Costume designs..
10/10 Perfect camera work..
10/10 Audio sounds fantastic..
..bar the voice of Nosferatu, who sounds like what a Lion might sound like, if Lions could speak.. 's l o w ' 'Deep 'ROAR' . .

Maybe it was intentional? ..for me, i thought the film failed to take the viewer 'their' into the world of Nosferatu.
As a result it felt more like a story about Nosferatu. I felt cold detachment throughout.

I was not sold on the look of Nosferatu, who looks like a manky human.
Maybe i cannot look beyond the brilliance of the classic 1922 Nosferatu.

Most of the time, the film comes across like a period drama. From time to time,
to spice things up, jump scares are thrown in.

I felt there were too many moments when for example there would be 3 or more characters talking,
each one taking turns to speak their lines, as if they were reading from a script. On that level, the film felt wooden.

I went into Nosferatu expecting more than it delivered.
At times, i felt bored. I did enjoy the scenery.

I watched the theoretical cut, which felt overly long. There was the option of an extended cut

You mean the option of an empirical cut.
