2 quick questions

Hey,

as you may have read in a previous post, I've just started work on my first ever sculpt; a bust of the 'saint of killers' from the garth ennis 'preacher comic'.

So far it's coming on OK, but I am having a LOT of trouble trying to sculpt a revolver for him to hold. It's just not looking like a real gun, and no matter what I do it seems to spoil the effect of the rest of the statue.

does anyone have either a weapons tutorial or some nuggets of advice they could give me?

my second question is this; I really want to paint him when I'm done but i'm scared about paint blocking up the finer details. Is the only real option to use an airbrush?

Thank you for taking the time to read my question, and I appreciate any advice!

(by the way, if you wish to see my progress, I'm keeping a blog on myspace that I've been updating with pics and what not

There are websites that carry scaled size weapons.
