Not sure if Spencer posted elsewhere but he did post to the Comicart-L Yahoo group (original comic art collector group established 1997 with over 3000+ members). This was Spencer's post for Adam Kubert (Spencer posted a similar message to the Comicart-L group re Steve McNiven):
While he RARELY, if EVER does commissions ... I have been able to persuade
Mr. Adam Kubert to accept a limited number of single figure, pencil only
HOME commissions for New York Comic Con.
He will only have time to accept FOUR requests so do not wait if you want
one.
Here are the particulars ...
NO backgrounds unless he decides to throw something in on his own.
All pieces will be PENCIL ONLY on standard comic book industry Bristol
Board which is 11" x 17."
The cost will be $1,000.00 per figure
Maximum two figures per customer, subject to acceptance.
These will not be con quality sketches but fully realized pencil drawings
of the same detail level that he would do for publication.
He reserves the right to accept only characters of easy recognition.
There is 100% NO guarantee of completion due to his schedule and the
limited time he has to do these pieces which is why he is not accepting any
payments until the piece is completed.
Before he begins the piece, you will be contacted to assure that you will
have the money available and that you still wish to purchase the piece.
Payment must be in cash paid in full at New York Comic Con, but not before
as to remove pressure should he not have time to complete the request.
You must be present at NYCC or provide us information of someone else who
is going to pick it up ( you must tell us in advance who that person is as we
will require ID in order to release the artwork ) NO artwork will be
shipped.
You will need to pick up the artwork at my booth during the show.
If this is acceptable to you and is something you can afford, please send
me a request at SpencerBck@aol.com and you will be put into the que should he
accept.
You will be notified if your request is accepted.
Mr. Kubert does NOT sketch at show appearances so this is truly a rare
chance if you are a fan of his artwork.
