We must both be fans of girls who can turn the world on with her smile, you know, the kind of girl who can take a nothing day and make everything seem OK.

Well it's you TN, and you should know it
With each post and every little comment you show it...
Meaningless bit of Trivia here...The MTM Theme song Love Is All Around was written by Paul Williams and it has been a bane of my existence that some (obviously misguided, probably legally blind) people think that I look like Paul Williams, or that he looks like me...

The show was the Mary Tyler Moore Show, starring Mary Tyler Moore. There were actually 4 spinoffs. Rhoda, Lou Grant, the Betty White Show, and Phyllis. The Spinoff that had a spinoff was the Ted Knight Show from Lou Grant. The show that caused the premise to be changed to avoid the divorce question debacle was the Dick Van Dyke Show.

You're right, TN (and Pablo, too!). I was actually thinking of Carlton, Your Doorman, based on Carlton the doorman from Rhoda. It was animated, but only produced one episode. I'd completely forgotten about the Ted Knight and Betty White Shows.
Good job!

OK I have to go soon so this will be an easy one. To give the premise of the show would make it a dead give away. So here goes.
This sci-fi show ran for two seasons in the mid-1970's and had a real life husband and wife in the lead roles. They had previously appeared together in "Mission Impossible". Name the show and the two actors in the lead roles. A bonus point if you can name the specific date given by the show of the major calamity that the show is premised on
