The XXXXXXXXXXX of Archie?

Spoilers?

The Death of Archie

Not a joke, apparently. Newsarama has an article about this story that takes place in Life With Archie #36 (I'm on my phone and don't know how to link to it from my phone).

Agreed, though Archie and the gals look like maniacs.

I'm happy to see that Archie Comics is still getting attention. I've actually got quite a few of their books in my collection nowadays, where just 5 years prior, there was not a one. They're making good moves and putting out some very entertaining stories.

A little bit, yeah. I think the girls smiles don't translate as well to AR's style. And now that I look at it again Archie does look pretty creepy, maybe that plays into his death.

I will give the publisher credit, they are taking some interesting what if concepts and running with them with good creators.

"Hmmmm" ... I don't know about this one. I was a big lover of the "what-if" style of Archie Gets Married and Afterlife, but this seems almost too-much. As if the Archie creative teams are now just throwing stuff at a wall, hoping to see what sticks. Dead Archie, so soon after a zombie Archie apocalypse and alcoholic Bettie in the 1st arc of Married, almost seems like overkill. Shock for shock's sake (& also for $). What'll be next?

But ... I do dig the covers.

Man, I don't know about all this. Honestly, I'm not digging the whole Archie Gets Married storyline. It all just seems...overly dramatic? Even depressing?

My girls wanted these books, and I finally got them for them for Christmas this last year. They got the wedding books, and the Married Life books 1 and 2. Both of them (14 and 10) said that they were just SAD. So many people die, suffer loss, adultery, all that. It's just...I don't know, NOT ARCHIE?

I like the undead-Archie stuff, but because it's an alt-universe sort of thing. This seems like its not so much, and I have a problem with that, I think.

I don't read Archie, but I always assumed that these books were either alternate universe stuff or just "What If?" type stories. I also think they're aimed at older Archie readers. It's kind of like Marvel's line of "The End" books where they choose a title and tell you the character's "last" story. I mean, the Double Digest and Betty and Veronica books are still around, aren't they? Or are these books all that's available now? I'll say that Archie is really good toilet reading material though.
