Convince me to buy a PSP

How bout, convince you NOT to buy one?

Since it's launch I can count maybe on one hand how many good games are out for it and WORTH owning. Otherwise use it for the other stuff.

Still I'd buy one if it was $50 less. Around $150 I'd get one. But really I have no use for that other then games. Even though the screen is great, I'm not gonna buy something in order to support how great it looks. If you're a gamer mostly, don't get it.
Sony isn't doing great cause if you haven't noticed they're pushing this more as a media player then game system.

If you want a media player go with the Archos 30gb player with wifi and browser. Very kewl piece of tech.

And ditto the General's statement. If you want a system with a ton of great games almost all worth owning if you had the cash, go with the DS Lite.

You know your electronics brother. I was going to recommend the same player. Archos makes some kick ass media players. It's kind of a pain to be ripping those movie's to convert them to DIVX. Aside from that hassle the player kicks ass. My boy has the monster one they released last year.

Hell yeah man! Even then at least you already have 30gigs to play with. You don't have to buy memory sticks for it and switch them around. Ripping will always be a hassle, but hey it's either that or just spend money on a dying format (UMD).
I'd really like to get my hand on one of those new ones too. The screen is pretty brilliant as well.

So what else can you do it a PSP other than just play games and watch UMDs
Can you access the internet or play music or download stuff to it.
If so how do you do it??
I am interested but have a games console and dvd player already i want something that does that little bit more

Buy a DS. A ton of games on that bad boy to buy and you can get the older ones for pretty cheap

Relic Reaper
I went to a general store. They wouldn't let me buy anything specifically.

Echoing what's been said already, if it's games you're interested in, pick up a DS Lite. It's cheaper, has better games, and is easier to carry around. I have both the PSP and the DS Lite. I picked-up the PSP at launch and have only bought a total of 4 games for it since then. I rarely play it. The screen does look great for movie playback, but it's difficult to justify paying $20+ for a movie you can only watch on a portable. The PSP has a ton of great features (though I still can't get on the web with the damned thing) and is a bit more versatile and powerful machine than the DS, but IMO, for all its bells and whistles, the games and gameplay are completely outclassed by the DS.

I think the only thing worth looking forward too is the fact that you'll be able to download PS1 games onto your PSP (assuming you have enough space of course). Other then that why pay $50 for GTA Liberty City Stories when you can get it for the PS2 for $20?! I know it's portable but really....

Now if the PSP was like the Sega Nomad and you could plug it into the tv and use the PSP as a controller for your games? THAT would rock.
