Well, the first guest has been announced.

Chris Burnham, artist on Batman Incorporated and co-creator of Officer Downe.

Even some of the cross format conventions (Nova, Arma, Oz-Con etc) can sometimes be light on attendance and they are appealing to a wide range of fandoms.

The more conventions that I go to, the more I realise that it is the same group of people who are the comic fans who are queuing for commissions and sketches at every con. That's not a bad thing, it just seems that there is a very small but dedicated bunch of collectors, but not enough to fill a convention centre.
I get what you mean, but I believe it is extremely rare for a comics creator to ask for an appearance fee.

There's also the possibility that given the name of the convention, perhaps they will look at getting comic-related TV/movie guests.

Again, it's definitely a case of a wait-and-see approach I think. They certainly have an initial burst of interest, but the ball is now in their court to provide more details on their intentions.

Borrow money from a pessimist, they don't expect it back.

It will be interesting to see how their prices compare to the more movie/TV star-based conventions.

as recently posted on their Facebook Page UvU has started an Indiegogo campaign to help fund their con...

Im not sure I like this idea, it makes me even more skeptical than I already was.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I'm reading the pledges and rewards and this is EASILY the most hilarious thing I'll ever see in 2014!!!!

OMG I can't breathe!!! There's more chance of me being announced EIC at Marvel than there is of the CON (see what I did there) going ahead!!!

I like how they say "help make this happen" and also how they say even if the con doesn't happen, no refund of monetary pledges will occur!!!

I'm all for people having a crack and trying to make something happen but this is officially laughable and completely unfair to the guests they have no doubt made false promises to
