I think cell phones are ridiculously overused and should be banned or blocked in a ton more places than cars. It's just gotten way out of hand that people can't do anything without a freakin' device in their hands. Generation Text should be the name for this decade.
Places that should ban cell phones or use signal blockers: theatres, golf courses, school rooms and public transit. Ever take a long ride on a bus or subway and have to put up with the dick next to you mindlessly blathering away into their phone about nothing for half an hour? It's infuriating.
Cell phones have their place but enough is enough. People don't even talk to each other in person anymore. It's become dehumanizing. Can't wait till they all get debilitating carpal tunnel syndrome and brain cancer.

No, but I sure don't need to hear them jibber jabber into the phone about something happening at the office they're on their way to anyhow. Or the inane blabberings of some teen titter titter hee hee going on and on about the latest gossip.
What annoys me even more than that is being on the golf course, about to take a shot, and some a$$hole nearby has his cell go off or is already talking into it like there's nobody else there. It's fukkin' golf course for chrissakes!! You're supposed to be concentrating on the game, not yapping on the phone. "Quiet on the tee" ring a bell for any of these jerks?

You guy are out of your minds! Who are they to tell me if I can talk on my "hands free or not"? F that! Why not ban radios, Ipod outlets, CD players etc....
Because a few kill themselves we all have to suffer?

I was waiting for this comment, and i agree 100%.
What happens when "studies" say that radios, ac, manual transmissions, power windows, or whatever become distractions and the Fed wants to ban them?
Are we going to say "it's about time" or "x3"?
You really want the Fed encroaching more and more in to your lives?

Agree. I think it's more dangerous to eat in a car than it is to talk on a phone.
Though I admit that texting while driving is dangerous.

Ridiculous, I've never even heard of such a theory nor have I ever done this. I suppose if a person is more into their conversation than their driving then there might be a problem, but I find myself asking the person I'm talking to to repeat themselves because I'm the opposite.

When what you do only affects you, I say go wild. When it has the potential to hurt others, you need to make sacrifices. Were it up to me, phones would have been banned in vehicles years ago.
