I 100% agree on the Txting webstuff etc but I will no way believe that having a hands free conversation with someone not in the vehicle is more dangerous to having a conversation with someone IN the vehicle. Hell I will look over at the person I am talking too when I am driving.. why cause that's how people talk we look at each other when we talk.. same with if you are talking to a person in the backseat. you will at times glance in the rear mirror or glance over shoulder just to see the expression on their face or might talk with your hands and take your hands off the wheel. So I call total BS with the theory of visualizing a person in your mind etc is more dangerous hell IF it is then NO one should be driving period as our minds are distracted by day to day thoughts etc while driving so driving while THINKING should be against the Law....

It isn't something you would even be aware of doing. I'll try to find the article I read. Most studies say it's the lack of attention that results in the bad driving while on cells, but one group tried to figure out why it matters if someone was present in the car or not. They noticed a lack of visual awareness of drivers who were speaking to someone not in the car, they suspected it was because their mind was busy unconsciously visualizing that person.

I am all for it. just last week I had to honk incessantly at 2 drivers on their cell phones. 1 turned the wrong way down a 1 way road (right in front of me) - thankfully she immediately turned around. And then 10 minytes later at a different driver driving at me on that one way road.

Here in Toronto you cannot use your cell phone while driving, but you can use a hands free kit.
