Behind the scenes of the Raiden base and a few words about the process from the head of the molding/casting dept, Ralph:

“Here you see us creating what is known as a matrix mold, a shell is constructed for the mold exterior, then we pour up a silicone mold around the piece once the shell has been done. The outer shell is made from epoxy and fiberglass, and the interior silicone mold is made of a pliable rubber which picks up intricate details and allows for accurate castings.”
