I would assume that number $72- $83 includes everything. Health insurance, dental, vision, cost of living, shift premiums, etc... I don't know for sure I don't work in big machinery. They like to throw those big numbers around to piss people off though. Makes people look greedy. They do the same thing to us in the auto industry. They say we make over $100 K a year. I personally have never made that much in 1 year in the 11 I have worked for GM. The most I have ever made is $70K, and that was working 50 hour weeks for the entire year. Skilled trades is a different story. They have their own contracts/rates etc... they make tall bank. With things costing what they do these days employers are looking at every possible to way to make more money. Insurance is going to take the biggest hit. If employers don't have to give it they won't. They'll say that you make enough to cover your own costs. Good ole' American capitalism is IMO whats the biggest threat to this country. Corporate greed is running rampant and there is nothing to stop it.

I've always heard that the US Armed Forces really didn't pay all that well. Found these numbers online for 2006 Average annual pay rates (including some allowances). As pay rates are highly influenced by military trade, I doubt most personnel make these amounts, but looking at them they don't seem that far off from what we make up here.
