NTFS error?

Recently whenever I download pics to my laptop and then next day boot up, I get this message:

Checking file system on C:
The type of file system is NTFS
One of your disks needs to be checked for constistency.

Then is checks it and all is well for awhile until I download more pics. Went online for some fixes but it still happens...maybe did it wrong.

Was on Vista and then upgraded to W7...can anyone help?

Try a Chkdsk /f through your command prompt.
