Blue Jays are already one game away from being eliminated. What happened?

About the unfortunate play in last night's Dodgers/Mets game ... ruling baserunner Chase Utley safe was very questionable. Joe Torre explained at a press conference afterward that Utley was called safe even though he never touched second base because he was never tagged out either after shortstop Ruben Tejada missed stepping on the base with the ball. The play was then ruled dead after Utley was initially called out and ran off the field. Joe said if a Mets player had tagged him afterward with the ball then Utley would have been called out. I can sort of understand that, it's like a play at home plate where a catcher never tags the runner and the runner misses home plate, the runner isn't out either. But in that case there is no call by the umpire which lets both teams know the play is still ongoing. In last night's game because Utley was incorrectly called out at second base, there was no reason for another Mets infielder to tag him with the ball. Utley was already called out, why tag him with the ball again? And by the time the play was overturned, it was already dead and too late to tag him out.

Now Utley has been suspended two games for his slide. As bad a slide as that was--any slide that breaks another player's leg is the wrong slide to make--I don't think he should have been suspended.

I went to a general store. They wouldn't let me buy anything specifically.

They need to start enforcing the rule more often of taking middle infielders out on double plays. Borderline bush league. Pathetic attempt at a interference slide, spike him or something. I feel the punishment should be worse.

Both Texas teams got eliminated within a matter of hours.

Watching replays of Jose Bautista's home run in the final Toronto/Texas game, that was the granddaddy of all bat flips, my goodness.

Reverse karma from the bat deflection deal. 3 straight errors. Baseball gods are fair.

Toronto find themselves in another 0-2 hole. David Price can't cut it as a postseason starter yet.

Mets handling Cubs pretty easy so far....gotta say did not see that coming...With Degrom up next they might be able to take a commanding 3-0 lead...I am a Yankee fan, but I am truly impressed with Mets pitching, these young guys seem like old Vets in the playoffs.

Toronto makes it 2-1, I wouldn't count them out just yet. Royals made it a game though..

Wow Chicago is one game to be out, will Maddon risk to go out with Arrieta today?

Beware the goat Chicago, beware the goat.....or maybe is the Karma for the exile of that fan that catched the ball in 2003, he was treated like a criminal.

The Mets' Daniel Murphy hit another home run--are you kidding me? Six games in a row?
