Pac Rim 2 is a complete pass for me. I found the first movie WAY overrated with some of the worst acting, dialogue and story logic I have seen in a long time. Pac Rim is a big expensive animated cartoon with giant robots fighting giant monsters. I found that the only entertaining part of the movie. Anytime the actors were on the screen, I just groaned how bad it was (not blaming the actors as I know they can do better and kind of reminded me of the Star Wars Prequels acting). I assume more of the same for Pac Rim2.
I probably would have enjoyed Pac Rim more if I ignored the internet hype and the Del Toro fanboys. I have to work hard to ignore all that and set my expectation really low.

Pacific Rim was one of the better cinema experiences I had the Summer it came out. Sure it was pure spectacle but if you go in expecting exactly that and not some sort of deep cerebral experience I think most would enjoy it. I'm looking forward to the sequel myself as there is lots of room to expand.

Snap, it's in the same bracket as ID4 for me, a brainless, fun ride. Although ID4 is still by far the king of this genre imo. I didn't really like JB so much in The Force Awakens, but I'm still looking forward to this..

exactly how I took it, I wasn't expecting Shakespeare just a fun ride and that's exactly what I got out of it.
