Does anyone else think that Metal Gear, or really most video game movies, would be better served on the big screen with a Premium channel mini-series?

I'm thinking like a Band of Brothers thing, or at the very least a Peter Jackson Hobbit thing (3 movies).

One of the main artistic advantages that games have over movies is the length of time that games hold their audiences attention. Metal Gear is a 10+ hour experience filled with a bunch of rich characters that separate this story from the other spy stories that it blatently rips off/pays tribute to.

For whatever reason, when I think of Metal Gear Solid, I think of a Codec convo between Natasha and Snake as Snake is hiding in a cardboard box in the warhead hangar. Small moments like that, hell probably even the Natasha character herself, would likely never make it to a 90 minute movie. How could they and still include 6 villians and a Metal Gear fight?

Avi Arad recently talked about the film;

" Arad said the movie is at least three years away, and that he is meeting with Kojima soon to discuss it. He continued, “If you go to Metal Gear Solid, it’s actually full of storytelling. I always look at the bible as a storyteller and operas with special attention to relationships and here, you have Cain and Abel, Ying and Yang like Double Dragon.”

Very cool. I like that they aren't trying to just rush it out.

Interesting. Especially the fact that David Hayter wrote a screenplay for it. He has the writing experience and also extensive first hand knowledge of the Metal Gear universe. Although like the article says, I wonder if after losing the Snake role if he would even want work on the film.
