Metal Gear movie from Columbia pictures announced

I'm a big Metal Gear fan and this announcement gives me both joy and fear. Joy to see Solid and company on the big screen . Fear that Hollywood will F@$# it up It's the same feeling I got when there was talk of a Halo movie. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would rather not see them make a Metal Gear or Halo movie if It's only going to use the name and not stay true to the story or characters . Hopefully Kojima and Konami don't let Hollywood take full control of the reins so this turns out to be worth seeing

Great news! MGS is the best video game series ever IMO, and I have always wanted them to turn it into a movie.

Snake = Christian Bale? Thomas Jane? Karl Urban?

Oh, and the video game soundtrack is a MUST!

With the right people Metal Gear could be a great movie. Guillermo del Toro had a recent interview where he talked about the difficulties in making a videogame movie. I believe he liked the Silent Hill movie. A movie a lot of people tend to hate.

There is one other series that I think would be a perfect videogame movie. But I'm going to keep that one secret.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

I wouldn't mind seeing David Hayter. He does Snake's voice and he also looks like Snake

Hugh Jackman would also be a good choice.

Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima confirmed that he will have a supervisory role in the Metal Gear Solid live-action film during his Eurogamer Expo developer session on Thursday. Kojima stated that he is not writing or directing the film.

He and producer Avi Arad are leaning towards an unknown actor for the lead role of Solid Snake, although he previously considered Hugh Jackman. "If I talk too much about this, Avi might get mad at me, but after thinking about it more, it's probably better to go for someone new, a rising star, someone who hasn't been typecast before as a particular kind of character, so that's the route we're going right now. Avi is very good at finding these people, and I think we can find someone who can make it big and have Solid Snake be their break into the movie industry."
I was hoping for Hugh Jackman to play the lead but a new actor might be good too. Hopefully this movie will break the curse of movies based on games.
